Swedish government proposes climate bonus for heavy and light electric vehicles
A climate bonus and greater investments in the Klimatklivet scheme.
Last week, the Swedish government presented several initiatives to speed the transition to greener transport alternatives. As part of its climate investment programme, proposals were presented for a new climate bonus for both heavy and light electric vehicles.
The aim of the new climate bonus is to provide an incentive for more Swedish citizens and companies to choose electric vehicles as a greener alternative to petrol and diesel vehicles. What’s more, the Klimatklivet scheme will be bolstered with an additional SEK 4 billion from now until 2026 to encourage the use of electric vehicles and stimulate the expansion of charging infrastructure in Sweden.
For GARO’s part, this is welcome news in the effort to transition to electrically powered, energy-efficient and more sustainable vehicles. Speeding the switch to climate-neutral transport requires a transition in the transport sector, which thanks to this proposal now has an opportunity to play a key role in the transition to greener vehicles and reduced emissions.
