What is destination charging?
When GARO launched its E-mobility initiative back in 2008, the goal was to develop charging stations and associated services for places where people live, work and go about their daily business. Over the years, destination charging has become an important part of the charging infrastructure and comprises the easily accessible charging facilities integrated with the everyday lives of electric and hybrid vehicle owners.
Charging integrated with everyday life
The term destination charging clearly says what it entails. We usually say that destination charging is, quite simply, the charging that takes place when an electric or hybrid vehicle is parked at a destination for at least 40–50 minutes. Unlike when an electric vehicle driver charges their vehicle along the way, destination charging takes place while the vehicle is parked at home or during other activities, such as work, shopping or pastimes, thereby allowing electric and hybrid vehicle owners to charge their vehicles while doing other things. This reduces the need to actively look for charging stations and seamlessly integrates charging with everyday life.
